Norwegian authorities have confirmed infectious salmon anaemia (ISA) at Mowi’s Kveitskjeret site in Frøya municipality, one of Norway’s most important salmon farming regions.

According to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet), Mowi reported positive PCR test results from Kveitskjeret on 20 April. The site is already located within an established ISA restriction zone.

Frøya, on the Trøndelag coast, is one of Norway’s largest salmon-producing municipalities and hosts farming operations for several major producers.

Mattilsynet has urged operators in the area to maintain strict biosecurity measures to limit further spread of the disease.
