Salmon Evolution hits production record and biomass milestone in Q1 2025

Land-based salmon farmer Salmon Evolution reported a new all-time high standing biomass of 2,939 tonnes live weight (LW) at the end of the first quarter of 2025, up 45 percent from the previous quarter, in an operational update released Monday.

Production also reached a new record of 1,624 tonnes LW in the quarter, a 7 percent increase from Q4 2024, continuing the company’s trend of steady growth. Harvest volume was limited to 581 tonnes head-on gutted (HOG), reflecting a strategic focus on increasing biomass.

The company achieved an all-in price realization of approximately NOK 75.00 ($7.13/€6.38) per kilo for harvested fish.

“We continue to see stable operations across the farm with strong biological KPIs. Coupled with a new production record in Q1 and also hitting our standing biomass target, we are very well positioned for continued operational improvement over the coming quarters,” said CEO Trond Håkon Schaug-Pettersen.

Salmon Evolution operates a hybrid flow-through system at its facility on Norway’s west coast and is targeting 100,000 tonnes HOG annual production capacity globally. The full Q1 2025 financial report is expected in May.
