Mowi Scotland harvests 17,500 tonnes in Q1 2025, up 21% year-on-year

Mowi Scotland harvested 17,500 tonnes gutted weight equivalent (GWT) in the first quarter of 2025, up from 14,500 tonnes in the same period last year, according to the company’s latest trading update. The 21% increase in volume marks a notable recovery following biological challenges in Q1 2024.

Last year’s results were affected by winter sores and jellyfish incidents, which impacted harvest weights and superior share, contributing to higher farming costs and uneven EBIT margins across regions. In Q1 2024, Mowi Scotland reported an operational EBIT of €2.20 per kg, compared with €1.80 per kg in Q1 2025.

While volumes have increased, the decline in EBIT per kg suggests cost pressures or lower market realisation in the Scottish segment this year. The group-wide farming cost fell from €6.05/kg in Q1 2024 to €5.89/kg in Q1 2025.

Mowi will publish its full Q1 2025 report on 14 May. Additional detail on regional margins, biological performance and market pricing is expected in the forthcoming release.
