Trout export volume rises 53% year-on-year in April

Ukraine, US and Thailand remain top markets for Norwegian trout.

Norwegian trout exports reached 6,340 tonnes in April, generating a total value of NOK 555 million ($53.28 million / €47.18 million), according to new data from the Norwegian Seafood Council.

This represents a 16 per cent increase in value and a 53 per cent increase in volume compared with the same month last year.

The largest markets for Norwegian trout in April were Ukraine, the United States and Thailand, with Poland recording the highest growth in export value.

Trout exports to Poland reached 607 tonnes, up 340 per cent, while the corresponding export value rose by NOK 38 million ($3.65 million / €3.23 million) — an increase of 337 per cent.

“For the 10th consecutive month, the value of trout has increased compared with the same month last year,” said Paul T. Aandahl, seafood analyst at the Norwegian Seafood Council.
