Mowi Consumer Products UK reports efficiency gains from digitisation programme
Mowi Consumer Products UK (CPUK) has significantly reduced paper usage and improved its operational efficiency following the introduction of a company-wide digitisation drive.
The seafood processing facility, which employs nearly 1,000 people and operates 363 days a year, produces Mowi-branded salmon alongside private label products for major UK retailers. The site has reduced its paper-based records by 90%, with the aim of becoming almost entirely paperless, using the SafetyCulture mobile-first workplace operations platform.
As a result of the digitisation, CPUK has more than doubled its product and quality audits, now conducting over 7,000 audits per month compared to 3,000 under the previous paper-based system, according to Mowi newsletter, The Scoop. The company reports that a new audit or check is now created every five minutes.
David Bett, senior quality manager at Mowi CPUK, said the digitisation has brought both functional and strategic benefits, enhancing traceability and speeding up data retrieval for customers and auditors.
Mowi CPUK has maintained an AA+ accreditation from the Brand Reputation through Compliance Global Standard (BRCGS) for the past four years, the highest level attainable.
The digitisation programme was led by Anna Giusti, who began as a production operator and worked alongside SafetyCulture to develop new reporting functionalities. Giusti has since advanced to a business data analyst role within the company.
Giusti said the initiative reflects CPUK’s position as a centre of excellence within the Mowi group and has contributed to wider operational improvements.
