Multiple ISA cases confirmed in Nordland and Troms
A series of outbreaks and suspected cases of infectious salmon anaemia (ISA) has been reported across Nordland and Troms, with at least five confirmed incidents and several more under investigation.
Holmøy Havbruk, Nordlaks, Egil Kristoffersen & Sønner, and SalMar have all had sites affected, including locations in Sortland, Hadsel, Bø, and Senja. Restriction zones have been established, and additional measures are expected.
ISA is a notifiable disease in Norway and can cause significant losses for salmon farmers. Measures to control the spread include emergency harvests, site fallowing, and movement restrictions.
ISA is a viral disease that affects Atlantic salmon and requires mandatory reporting to Norwegian authorities. It can lead to severe impacts on fish health and significant operational disruption for affected producers.
