20,000-tonne salmon project in China taps Norwegian expertise.

Stein Ove Tveiten has been appointed CEO of Baring International’s land-based salmon farming project in Shanwei, South China. The venture aims to produce 20,000 tonnes of Atlantic salmon annually for the Chinese market.

Tveiten, who previously served nearly eight years at Arctic Fish, will begin his new role in September following a short professional break.

“This is a rare opportunity to combine Norwegian aquaculture expertise with Chinese scale and ambition,” Tveiten stated in a LinkedIn announcement.

The project represents one of the largest planned land-based salmon farms in the region, reflecting growing investment interest in domestic seafood production in China.
