Faroes drive growth as Bakkafrost posts higher Q2 harvest volume

Bakkafrost Q2 2025 trading update: 23,000 tonnes harvested, Scottish operations report mortality costs.

Faroe Islands-based salmon producer Bakkafrost harvested a total of 23,000 tonnes (HOG) across its Faroese and Scottish operations in Q2 2025, according to a trading update issued Wednesday.

In the Faroe Islands, harvest volume reached 16,000 tonnes, with an average weight of 5.0kg. In Scotland, volumes totalled 7,000 tonnes, averaging 5.9kg. Incident-based mortality costs were reported at DKK 27 million (£3.1 million) in Scotland, while no such costs were recorded in the Faroe Islands.

Smolt release during the quarter amounted to 5.4 million in the Faroe Islands and 0.9 million in Scotland.

In its fishmeal, oil and feed (FOF) segment, Bakkafrost sourced 159,500 tonnes of marine raw materials, sold 37,500 tonnes of feed, and reported fishmeal sales of 9,000 tonnes. No fish oil sales were recorded during the period.
