KJ delivers 36th catamaran to Bakkafrost ahead of schedule

Faroese shipbuilder KJ has delivered its 66th vessel in its catamaran series, handing over the Ennisskarð to P/F Bakkafrost Farming ahead of schedule. The 20-metre by 9-metre vessel is the 36th catamaran built by KJ for Bakkafrost since the first delivery in 1999.

Final testing of Ennisskarð was completed on 16 July, and the vessel has now entered service from its homeport in Hov, Suðuroy, Faroe Islands. It will be used primarily for aquaculture operations in the southern fjords.

The vessel is equipped with two Palfinger Marine deck cranes, a 90-tonne stern crane, a 33-tonne crane aft of the wheelhouse, and a 25-tonne deck winch. It also features dynamic positioning technology, twin 500hp FPT C16 engines, two thrusters, and two 115 KVA generators.

Ennisskarð is a sister ship to Miðenni, which was delivered to Bakkafrost in December 2023.
