Salmon Evolution selects Moleaer for emergency oxygenation at Indre Harøy expansion.
Salmon Evolution has contracted US-based Moleaer to supply emergency oxygenation systems for the second phase of its land-based salmon farming facility at Indre Harøy, Norway.
The company has already trialled Moleaer’s nanobubble technology in tanks built during the first phase of construction, reporting positive results. Moleaer was selected after an evaluation of price, technology and expertise, according to Salmon Evolution project manager Arild Vikan.
Under the agreement, Moleaer will supply its submersible “Freya” nanobubble generators for emergency oxygenation in 12 closed tanks. The system, which has also been used during fish transport to maintain oxygen levels, delivers high-efficiency oxygen dissolution to improve water quality and fish welfare while reducing oxygenation costs.
Moleaer business developer for aquaculture, Inge Haarberg, said the system will help ensure stable production conditions at the Indre Harøy site, which currently has a capacity of 7,900 tonnes per year. The facility is planned to reach 36,000 tonnes annually once fully developed.
