Akva Group strengthens executive team with two new appointments.

Akva Group has announced changes to its executive team following the resignation of Kristian Botnen, head of the company’s Nordic sea-based division.

Erlend Gundersen Røed, currently global supply chain director for sea-based operations, will assume Botnen’s role from 1 October. He will also join the group’s executive management.

“This is an exciting opportunity, and I look forward to taking on the new responsibilities,” Røed said in a statement. “Aquaculture has an important role to play in ensuring sustainable food production, and I want to contribute to Akva Group continuing to deliver strong solutions and create value for our customers. At the same time, I look forward to working closely with a strong team and building further on the expertise already within the organisation.”

In a parallel move, Arnstein Hosaas has been promoted to head of innovation for sea-based operations. Hosaas, who is currently group innovation director, also joins the executive management team.

Røed holds a master’s degree in business and finance and has more than ten years of industry experience, including senior roles in project integration, production management and business intelligence. He joined Akva Group in the summer of 2024.

Hosaas has a master’s degree in marine engineering from NTNU and hydrodynamics from the University of São Paulo. Before joining Akva Group, he spent 14 years in the oil industry in a range of technical and operational roles, both in Norway and internationally.

The leadership changes come as Akva Group adapts to the departure of Botnen, who will move to Benchmark Genetics as CEO from November.
