Gigante Salmon steps up production at Rødøy facility.

Gigante Salmon is increasing activity at its land-based salmon farm in Rødøy municipality, with plans to stock around 2.2 million smolt this autumn as the site enters the final phase of development.

The company received its first delivery of smolt from Grytåga Settefisk last week. Two of the facility’s three production basins are now in operation, with full annual capacity of 16,000 tonnes HOG expected by 2028.

Gigante Salmon carried out its first stocking in January 2024. The company reported that its initial harvest delivered strong results, with more than 90 percent of fish classified as superior and production costs of NOK 70 ($6.79) per kilo HOG.

CEO Kjell Lorentsen said the project is beginning to generate wider economic ripple effects in the region and that current performance provides a solid basis for operations into 2026.
