AKVA group sells hybrid feed barge to Arctic Fish in Iceland.
AKVA group has signed an agreement with Arctic Fish for the delivery of an AC700R feed barge, due for completion by July 2026 and transport to Iceland’s west coast in September.
“This barge will provide Arctic Fish with a modern and reliable feeding platform that strengthens their operations on the west coast of Iceland,” said Project Manager Alf Kåre Ulfsnes at AKVA group.
The AC700R model, with a 700-tonne feed capacity, hybrid power system and reinforced design for exposed sites, will serve as a key addition to Arctic Fish’s infrastructure in the region. It will be equipped with AKVA group’s latest AKVA connect software, allowing precise control of both feeding and operational systems.
“The hybrid system, combined with the generators, ensures operational reliability and energy efficiency, while shore power readiness paves the way for a more sustainable future,” said AKVA group in a statement.
Earlier this autumn, the company delivered an AC600VR feed barge to Kaldvik on Iceland’s east coast.
“Salmon production in Iceland has developed rapidly in recent years,” said Stian Paulsen, Commercial Director Sea Based at AKVA group. “We have delivered a wide range of solutions and technology to the Icelandic market in close collaboration with skilled customers and partners, and we are fully committed to continuing this journey.”
