New leadership joins National Aquaculture Association as organisation sets out strategic growth agenda.

The US National Aquaculture Association (NAA) has appointed two senior staff members as it begins what it describes as a new phase of organisational development.

Caitlyn Czajkowski joined earlier this year as executive director, bringing a background in biology, natural resources and marine policy. She holds degrees from Rowan University and Delaware State University, and previously served as a NOAA Knauss Marine Policy Fellow in the office of US Senator Chris Coons.

In October, the association appointed Maria Smithson as director of membership and marketing. Smithson has experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement and advocacy, and will focus on expanding the NAA’s membership base and strengthening its external outreach.

Sebastian Belle, president of the NAA board of directors, said the appointments position the organisation for its next stage of development. “Caitlyn and Maria bring a complementary mix of vision, energy, and expertise that will move NAA forward in exciting ways,” he said.

According to the association, the new leadership will concentrate on member support, partnership-building and sector-wide engagement as the NAA seeks to reinforce its role in representing US aquaculture.
