Lerøy to establish processing and distribution operations in new Bergen logistics facility
Lerøy Seafood is set to establish processing and distribution operations in a new purpose-built logistics facility in Bergen, following the award of a construction contract to Norwegian contractor Backe.
Backe has been awarded the turnkey contract by property owner West Coast Invest Eiendom AS to construct the facility, which will be leased by Lerøy Seafood. Lerøy Seafood Group ASA is one of Norway’s largest seafood companies, with its headquarters in Bergen and operations along the entire Norwegian coast.
The building will have a total floor area of approximately 3,300 square metres and will be tailored to the needs of the fish industry. Facilities will include fish processing areas, chilled and frozen storage, loading bays for goods transport, as well as staff changing rooms, offices and canteen facilities.
Lerøy plans to take the building into use in early 2027.
According to West Coast Invest Eiendom, the project forms part of the development of a property acquired in 2021 and is expected to contribute to increased activity in the area.
Construction preparations are already underway, with site work scheduled to begin in January.
