SalMar has agreed to acquire the remaining 49 per cent stake in Øylaks, taking full ownership of the Midsund-based salmon farming business.
The transaction will be settled through the issuance of 209,402 new SalMar shares at a subscription price of NOK 655.20 per share, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
SalMar initially acquired a majority stake in Øylaks in 2022, when it purchased 51 per cent of the family-owned company following negotiations with the Misund family, which had controlled the business for decades. At the time, Øylaks cited limited capacity to pursue further growth independently despite sustained profitability.
Founded as a local salmon farming operation in Midsund, in Molde municipality, Øylaks operates farming sites on both the northern and southern sides of Oterøya. Prior to the 2022 transaction, the company reported operating profit of more than NOK 30 million.
SalMar assumed operational control of Øylaks following the initial acquisition, integrating the company into its wider farming portfolio. The move to full ownership allows SalMar to fully consolidate Øylaks’ biomass capacity and operations within the group.
