Kleiva Fiskefarm has contracted Endúr Sjøsterk to deliver a concrete feed barge in Q3 2026, the company’s first such vessel, for deployment at a site in Ibestad municipality in northern Norway.

The barge will measure 46 metres by 21 metres and have feed capacity of 600 tonnes. It will be equipped with eight silos and ten feeding lines, expandable to twelve, as well as crew facilities.

Kleiva said concrete was selected for durability and lower maintenance requirements under northern operating conditions. The barge will also include a battery pack and a sludge collection system designed to capture waste and reduce environmental impact.

“We are proud to offer our employees safe and modern facilities while continuing to lead on sustainable operations,” said CEO Marius Arvesen.

The vessel is also intended to support research and development, including an upcoming partnership between BlueFusion, Havbruksstasjonen in Tromsø, UiT The Arctic University of Norway and Nofima.
