NES selected to supply navigation and DP systems to North Salmon Service wellboat.

Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) has been contracted to supply integrated navigation and dynamic positioning systems for a new live fish carrier under construction at Norwegian shipyard Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted (FMV).

The Bergen-based company will deliver its Raven INS integrated navigation system and Raven JPOS dynamic positioning system to the vessel, which is being built for wellboat operator North Salmon Service.

The Raven INS system integrates radar, electronic chart display and information systems (ECDIS), autopilot and trackpilot, alarms, and sensor data into a single bridge interface designed to provide navigators with a unified operational view.

“For this project, a complete turnkey bridge solution is being delivered, comprising a fully integrated navigation system, an integrated DP system, communication equipment, sensors, and associated operator consoles with monitor matrix,” said Siv Remøy-Vangen, managing director of NES.

“This award highlights the competitiveness and advanced capabilities of Raven INS, a fully integrated navigation system delivered as part of a complete turnkey bridge solution.”

Engineering work on the system will begin immediately. The main equipment deliveries are scheduled for the first half of 2027.

Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted is carrying out much of the engineering for the vessel, known internally as the FMV63 project, in-house. The yard specialises in vessels serving the aquaculture sector.

NES previously secured a contract in October 2025 to act as system integrator and supply power and automation systems for the same vessel.

“We are proud to be selected for another delivery to this innovative live fish carrier,” said Andreas Rønning Stein, sales manager at NES.

“Raven INS, our proprietary fully integrated navigation system, is quickly gaining a reputation among shipowners for its flexibility and user-friendly design.”

NES is a subsidiary of HAV Group, which is listed on Euronext Growth Oslo.
