The Norwegian Seafood Council has extended its partnership with footballer Erling Braut Haaland through autumn 2028, continuing an ambassador agreement aimed at promoting Norwegian seafood in international markets.
The collaboration, launched in March 2024, links the striker with the council’s global marketing initiatives for Norwegian seafood. Under the extension, Haaland will remain an ambassador for the “Seafood from Norway” and “Godfisk” brands and will feature in further campaigns and promotional content.
“I’m very happy to continue the partnership with Norwegian seafood. It feels natural to me, and it’s something I’m proud to be a part of,” Haaland said in a statement.
According to the council, campaign tracking shows strong engagement from promotions featuring the player.
“Erling Braut Haaland gives Norwegian seafood a level of attention and impact that very few others can. Together, we have built a platform that lifts Norwegian seafood far beyond what a regular campaign can achieve,” said Christian Chramer, chief executive of the Norwegian Seafood Council.
The next phase of the partnership will include additional campaigns and market activities carried out with the seafood industry in Norway and abroad.
The agreement is aligned with a wider collaboration between the council and the Norwegian Football Federation, covering both the men’s and women’s national teams. That three-party arrangement, which also includes Haaland, has also been extended through autumn 2028.
“This is a strategically important and highly successful partnership for Norwegian seafood,” said Olav Holst-Dyrnes, chairman of the Seafood Council.
The Seafood Council, headquartered in Tromsø, works with Norway’s fisheries and aquaculture sectors to develop export markets for Norwegian seafood. Its activities are financed by a levy on all Norwegian seafood exports and it operates in twelve international markets.
