The Norwegian salmon spot price is expected to ease next week as the seasonal demand boost from Easter fades. Estimates for week 14 average around EUR 7.62 (USD 8.81) per kilo, down from an estimated EUR 7.77–7.96 (USD 8.99–9.21) range this week, according to seafood industry analysts.
One estimate places the price near EUR 7.77 (USD 8.99), while another projects a steeper decline to EUR 7.46–7.51 (USD 8.63–8.68). Overall, the consensus points to a week-on-week drop of roughly EUR 0.15–0.35 per kilo, analysts said.
Norwegian salmon exports reached 30,886 tonnes last week, up 3.9% year-on-year and 10.9% week-on-week. Export value totaled EUR 228 million, rising 10.8% year-on-year and 8.7% week-on-week.
Compared with the equivalent pre-Easter week last year, demand was 18.8% higher. Exports to China remained strong at 2,302 tonnes, up 50% year-on-year, while shipments to Poland also increased, reflecting continued demand for processed products in EU retail channels.
The four-week rolling export value is now 9% higher year-on-year.
Biological conditions in Norway remain largely favourable. Sea lice pressure stayed low last week, with only four farming sites above the regulatory threshold. However, algae concentrations are increasing in production zones PO1 and PO2, raising the risk level for some farming operations in those areas.
