Japanese seafood company Nissui has renamed its salmon farming subsidiary Yumigahama Suisan as Nissui Salmon Co., effective 1 April 2026.
The company said the rebranding is intended to strengthen the Nissui brand and clarify the role of salmon farming within the group’s aquaculture operations.
The move forms part of Nissui’s “Good Foods 2030” strategy, which identifies aquaculture as a growth area and targets a 50 percent increase in group sales by 2030.
Yumigahama Suisan was Nissui’s first salmon farming operation, based in Sakaiminato in Tottori Prefecture. The company has since expanded to additional sites in Sado in Niigata Prefecture and in Otsuchi and Rikuzentakata in Iwate Prefecture.
Nissui said the subsidiary will continue to serve as the core company for the group’s domestic salmon farming business. The company is targeting domestic production of 10,000 tonnes of salmon annually by 2030.
