Benchmark Genetics has appointed Thomas Samdal as chief financial officer, effective 1 April.
Samdal joins from research institute NORCE, where he served as CFO with responsibility for the group’s finance function, including reporting, financing and sustainability reporting.
He succeeds Jon Crowther, who will retire following a transition period.
Samdal holds a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration from Norwegian School of Economics and a Master in Accounting and Auditing. He has nearly 20 years’ experience in auditing, corporate finance and financial leadership, including roles in private equity-backed companies.
Benchmark Genetics operates breeding programmes for Atlantic salmon and provides genetics and genotyping services to aquaculture producers in more than 50 countries. The company became an independent business under the ownership of Novo Holdings last year.
