Prices expected to ease further in week 21.

Norwegian salmon spot prices are expected to ease to around EUR 6.56 (USD 7.62) per kilo in week 21, down roughly EUR 0.18 (USD 0.21) from last week’s level of around EUR 6.75 (USD 7.84), according to analyst estimates.

The decline marks a second consecutive week of softer pricing as the market moves further into the spring season.

Norwegian export volumes in week 19 rose 17% year on year to approximately 32,800 tonnes, adding to supply pressure. Despite the higher volumes, export values remained elevated. The rolling four-week Norwegian export value in EUR terms was up 15.7% year on year, while week 19 alone showed a 26% increase in EUR terms.

The combination of higher volumes and continued value growth suggests the current price correction is being driven more by seasonal supply expansion than by a deterioration in underlying demand.

Feed costs remain a concern for producers. Fishmeal prices were up 84% year on year in week 19, while fish oil prices rose 112%, following Peru’s anchovy fishing ban. The higher input costs could weigh on margins later in the year, even with salmon prices remaining at historically elevated levels.

Each week, SalmonBusiness gathers salmon price forecasts from industry analysts for the week ahead. Unless otherwise stated, prices refer to Superior 3–6 kg salmon, per kilo FCA Oslo, converted using the day’s average exchange rate.
