Cooke Scotland has received planning approval from Shetland Islands Council for a new salmon farming site off Vementry in Shetland.
The site will comprise 10 pens with a circumference of 120 metres each and a maximum permitted biomass of 1,350 tonnes. A feed barge will be permanently moored adjacent to the farm.
The company said the development is expected to create up to four full-time positions and support the long-term viability of its Shetland operations.
Subject to operational planning conditions, development of the site is expected to begin in 2027.
David Brown, Shetland regional manager at Cooke Scotland, said the approval followed several years of planning, environmental assessment and consultation with regulators, local communities and industry stakeholders.
Cooke said the project would help support future salmon production in Shetland while generating business for local suppliers and contractors.
The company currently operates seawater farming sites around Yell, Unst and mainland Shetland, as well as freshwater facilities in Unst and a salmon processing plant in Yell.
