PHARMAQ Analytiq has opened a new aquaculture diagnostics laboratory at An Lòchran on the Inverness Campus, expanding its fish health testing capacity in Scotland.

The facility brings together the company’s molecular diagnostics (qPCR), histology and microbiology teams under one roof. According to PHARMAQ, the site includes Scotland’s only dedicated commercial fish histopathology processing facility, alongside expanded digital pathology and robotic qPCR capabilities.

The company said the consolidation will increase testing capacity and support faster diagnostic services for aquaculture producers.

PHARMAQ Analytiq traces its Scottish fish health diagnostics activities back to 1995 through Fish Vet Group, which was later acquired by PHARMAQ. PHARMAQ became part of animal health company Zoetis in 2021 following its acquisition of the Norwegian fish health specialist.

The new laboratory is located within the Inverness Campus, a hub for life sciences and aquaculture organisations in the Scottish Highlands.

PHARMAQ said the investment is intended to strengthen its support for fish health management and disease monitoring across the aquaculture sector.
