Hot on the heels of contracts with Tesco and Sainsbury’s, sushi conveyor belt chain to now supply UK’s sixth-largest food retailer’s’ “on the go” format store.

In a press release, the sushi and Japanese food brand YO!, has hooked a deal to supply Co-op as the retailer opens its latest new food store in London’s Moorgate.

Moorgate is the Co-op’s third “on the go” format store, following launches in Manchester’s Piccadilly Railway Station approach and London’s America Square.

The range includes 10 YO! products such as crispy salmon rolls and salmon deluxe sushi packs.

Co-op’s Food to Go Concessions Buyer Emily Young said: “The aim is to further elevate our sushi proposition for customers in search of more authentic products, bridging the gap between our core sushi offer and sushi counters in the market. We are delighted to partner with YO! as we launch of our latest store and test new concepts designed to attract and appeal to existing and, new Co-op customers.”

Earlier in the month, YO! landed a deal to stock pre-packed lines in Sainsbury’s. YO! announced in late 2018 that is rolling out sushi restaurants across 50 UK Tescos – the UK’s largest retailer. It was said that the deals were bolstered by Yo’s acquisition of Waitrose, Pret a Manager and Costco sushi supplier Taiko Food in 2018.

Cooke Aquaculture Scotland has been a supplier to YO!.
