Abyss Group has appointed Terje Hellum as its new chief executive, with the role effective from 22 June.
The company, a service provider to the aquaculture sector, operates a fleet of 63 vessels and employs more than 500 staff across bases along the Norwegian coast and in Iceland. Its activities include service vessels, net cleaning, ROV and diving operations, fallowing and delousing services.
Abyss said the board was satisfied with the appointment, citing Hellum’s experience and leadership background.
“Abyss Group is a company with strong professional environments, ambitious owners and significant growth potential. I look forward to getting to know the organisation and contributing to its further development,” Hellum said.
Hellum joins from engineering and infrastructure group Linjebygg, where he has spent most of his career, including the past nine years as chief executive.
Current chief executive Victor Jensen will remain with the company as executive chair, a move Abyss said would ensure continuity and support the transition in group leadership.
“The appointment of Terje Hellum is an important strategic step for Abyss Group. We have significant ambitions for the company, and with Terje in place as CEO we gain an experienced and unifying leader,” Jensen said.
Abyss Group, founded in 2001 and headquartered in Kristiansund, provides operational services to salmon farming companies across Norway and Iceland.
