Alltech becomes majority shareholder in Finland’s only fish feed plant.

Alltech has acquired Finnforel’s share in Alltech Fennoaqua Oy, becoming the majority owner of Finland’s only fish feed production facility.

The acquisition strengthens Alltech’s position in the Finnish aquaculture market and supports the company’s strategy to advance sustainable fish farming across Northern Europe. Alltech Fennoaqua, located in Raisio, specialises in high-quality, sustainable feed for cold-water species and recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS).

“Aquaculture is one of the world’s fastest-growing sources of protein – and it is a focus area for us,” said Alltech CEO Mark Lyons.

Alltech and Finnforel originally acquired the facility from Raisioaqua in early 2023. Since then, Alltech Fennoaqua has scaled up production to meet growing demand in regional markets including Sweden, Poland, and the Baltics.

Tomi Kantola, CEO of Alltech Fennoaqua, said the new ownership structure would improve the company’s ability to deliver innovative feed solutions and support Finland’s domestic food security.

Alltech Fennoaqua now operates as part of Alltech Coppens, the company’s aquaculture division based in the Netherlands, with access to global R&D and technical support.
