Alsaker Fjordbruk has acquired Ryfish, the farming operations previously owned by Fishglobe Technologies, in a deal that will see the companies continue to collaborate on closed containment aquaculture technology.

Ryfish was established in 2019 to develop and test Fishglobe’s closed farming systems under commercial conditions.

Fishglobe said the sale would allow it to focus more directly on its role as a technology supplier, while maintaining operational links through the partnership with Alsaker.

The companies also plan to develop a visitor and exhibition centre in Lysefjord using Fishglobe units for post-smolt production and public display.

Ryfish has produced around 6 million post-smolts in closed units since 2019, according to the companies.

Alsaker said the collaboration would support further work on combining open-net pen farming with closed sea-based post-smolt production.
