AquaBoreal said it has entered the detailed engineering phase for its planned land-based salmon farm in Baie-Trinité, Quebec, following a series of strategic agreements with project partners.
The company has engaged Danish aquaculture engineering firm GlobaQ to support the design of the recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility. Quebec-based engineering firm CIMA+ will continue contributing to project development, while construction management will involve Frare & Gallant.
AquaBoreal said the first phase of the project is designed to produce 10,000 tonnes of salmon annually, primarily for the Quebec and Canadian markets.
The project is being developed in Baie-Trinité on Quebec’s Côte-Nord and aims to produce Atlantic salmon using seawater sourced from the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
The company said the project has now completed several preparatory steps and is advancing toward detailed engineering as development continues.
