Former Moen-Gruppen CEO Are Brekk will take over as general manager at aquaculture services company Hydro Shipping effective October 1, the company announced on Friday in a press release.

Brekk succeeds Frida Knutshaug Ervik, who is leaving to take a new role at Scanbio.

As well as time at Moen-Gruppen Brekk has also spent more than 20 years as the chairman of family-owned salmon farmer Sinkaberg-Hansen.

Hydro Shipping, specialising in mechanical deworming and manning, currently owns and operates two vessels, the Hydro Pioner and Hydro Patriot. The company reported a turnover of NOK 105 million ($10 million) last year and has a staff of 36.

Based in Rørvik, Brekk will share premises with Smir and Frank Øren, the founder and shareholder of Hydro Shipping, according to the company’s announcement.

Ståle Ramstad, the chairman of Hydro Shipping, praised Ervik’s contributions to the firm. “This is a very good starting point for further building on the strong foundation that Frida has established during her tenure as general manager,” Ramstad said.
