Aquatiq appoints Rúnar Birgisson as CEO for its Icelandic operations

Aquatiq’s new Icelandic headquarters will be located in the Sjávarklasinn at Grandi in Reykjavik.

Aquatiq, a company specializing in services for the seafood, aquaculture, and food processing industries, has appointed Rúnar Birgisson as its new CEO for its operations in Iceland. Birgisson brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked with Marel for some 25 years.

Birgisson’s tenure at Marel includes a decade in Seattle, USA, and fifteen years in Iceland, equipping him with extensive knowledge and expertise in the industry.

Aquatiq, headquartered in Norway, has a presence in eight countries, including Chile, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. With the addition of Iceland to this list, the company now boasts more than a hundred employees worldwide.

The company’s services focus on consultancy regarding quality standards, equipment for fish farming and processing, materials compliant with food standards, cleaning systems, bacteriological tests, and software solutions.

Aquatiq’s new Icelandic headquarters will be located in the Sjávarklasinn at Grandi in Reykjavik. This strategic move is part of the company’s ongoing expansion and consolidation of its international operations. The establishment of a new base in Iceland was initially announced last November, signifying Aquatiq’s ambitions within the region.
