Benchmark strengthens team with two senior hires

Benchmark Genetics appoints new group reporting manager and in-house counsel.

Benchmark Genetics has announced the appointment of two new hires: Viktorija Dorfan as Group Reporting Manager and Mette Remø as legal counsel. Both joined the company on 4 August, according to a press release issued Thursday.

“We are very pleased to welcome Mette and Viktorija to the team. They bring valuable expertise and experience that will enhance our ability to deliver on our strategic goals and our vision of being a leader in genetics and breeding for sustainable aquaculture,” said CFO Jon Crowther.

Dorfan joins the finance department and will be based in Bergen. She holds a master’s degree in accounting and financial reporting from San Diego State University and has more than ten years of international experience in auditing and financial reporting. Her career includes roles at KPMG in San Diego and Silicon Valley, advising global companies on complex reporting issues. Most recently, she has worked in the oil and gas sector.

Remø joins Benchmark Genetics as an in-house lawyer. A graduate of the University of Bergen, she previously worked at KPMG Law, advising clients in the aquaculture sector on legal matters related to aquaculture, corporate, and tax law. She also brings extensive experience from public administration, including senior roles at the Norwegian Food Safety Authority and the Directorate of Fisheries. Her responsibilities have included aquaculture licensing, regulatory development, and enforcement of compliance in the aquaculture sector.

At the Directorate of Fisheries, she led the section for aquaculture control and development. At the Food Safety Authority, her work has covered seafood safety, exports, feed regulation, and fish health and welfare.
