BioMar has appointed Matt Whittle as Commercial Director of its Australian business, effective August 2026, as it strengthens its regional leadership team.

Whittle brings experience in aquaculture production and commercial operations, with a background in farm-level management and customer engagement in the Australasian sector. Originally from Tasmania, he has established links to the local aquaculture industry and operating environment.

BioMar Australia managing director David Whyte said the appointment reflects the company’s focus on combining commercial capability with practical industry experience.

“Matt brings a combination of commercial capability and hands-on aquaculture experience. His understanding of farming systems, alongside his Tasmanian background, positions him well to lead our commercial team and continue building close partnerships with producers,” Whyte said.

As part of the leadership changes, current Commercial Director Mike Thomson will move into a newly created role as Service Delivery Director from September 2026.

In the new position, Thomson will focus on service execution and customer experience, including supply reliability, logistics and on-farm support.

“Mike has played an important role in the development of BioMar Australia’s commercial approach. The creation of this role allows us to sharpen our focus on delivery and execution while maintaining strong, long-term customer relationships,” Whyte said.

The appointments form part of BioMar Australia’s broader strategy to strengthen local leadership and support growth in the Australian aquaculture sector.
