BioMar to increase China production capacity by 50,000 tonnes.

BioMar plans to add a second production line at its aquafeed facility in Wuxi, China, with commissioning expected in the first quarter of 2027.

The expansion, undertaken through its joint venture with Tongwei, will increase capacity at the site by 50,000 tonnes and enable production of speciality feeds for early life stages and additional high-value species, including Japanese eel, grouper and mandarin fish.

BioMar operates two feed plants in China, in Wuxi and Zhuhai (Haiwei), with a combined capacity of 200,000 tonnes. The company said rising demand for its portfolio is beginning to constrain further growth.

“We have developed a substantial business presence in China,” said Carlos Diaz, adding that the Wuxi expansion will also introduce new technological capabilities.

BioMar has operated in China since 2016 and said the project forms part of its broader strategy to expand production in selected growth markets.
