France-based animal nutrition company Aviwell has raised €11 million in a Series A funding round to support the development of its microbiome-based products for poultry and aquaculture.

The round was led by Blue Revolution Fund, with participation from Blast.Club and SWEN Capital Partners. Existing investors Elaia and MFS Investment Management also took part.

Aviwell develops microbial ecologies intended to improve animal health and feed efficiency, using an in-house AI-driven discovery platform called Aneto. The company says the platform is designed to identify bacterial communities with defined biological modes of action, with a view to reducing development time and cost compared with conventional approaches.

The new capital will be used to move Aviwell’s poultry and aquaculture products from discovery into validation and scale-up, as well as to expand its platform services and commercial activity.

Aviwell is headquartered in Toulouse, France, with operations also in the United States.
