Cermaq Chile slapped with €31,000 fine

Chile’s second largest salmon farmer infringed country’s “Ley de Pesca”.

La Razon reports that Cermaq Chile was issued with a fine of EUR 31,000 for infringing part of the country’s fishing and aquaculture law.

Chile’s Supreme Court placed the fine after fishing authority Sernapesca found one of the Mitsibushi-owned salmon farmer’s sites “had not maintained cleanliness in one of its sites”.

In early July, the company hired former Muliexport Farming Director Pedro Courard as the company’s new production manager.

Industry veteran Steven Rafferty was appointed Cermaq Chile MD in March.
