The salmon-farming division of Friosur — a Chilean company producing over 20,000 tonnes a year — is being marketed for sale by its owner, Jese Luis Del Rio, via financial advisors, LarrainVial, Aqua has reported.
The Rio family has apparently attracted “large players” by putting the operation on the block, although no other information was provided.
Friosur is an unlisted company, but judging by the report, the company “moves” USD 4 billion worth of various salmon product every year and could be worth USD 200 million.
An investor roadshow is understood to be underway to sell the industrial “gem”, which, with its 40 concessions could in short order fill these to produce 80,000 t.
