Builders’ waste dumped near salmon spawning river in Donegal.
Concerns have been raised after builders’ waste was dumped beside the Abhainn Bhuí in County Donegal, a river known to support spawning Atlantic salmon.
The incident was highlighted by the Gweebarra Conservation Group, which said construction materials had been discarded close to the river and warned that dumping in the area appeared to be ongoing.
The Abhainn Bhuí is regarded locally as an important salmon spawning habitat, and the group said the presence of building waste posed a potential risk to the river environment. It called for proper waste handling and disposal, noting that licensed skips are readily available.
No information has been released on who was responsible for the dumping, and it is not yet clear whether local authorities are investigating the incident.
