Crew member hospitalised as explosion blows hatch off silage boat

Police have responded to reports of an explosion aboard a silage boat moored in the center of Leirvik in Norway, at around 11:30 AM on Tuesday.

The explosion originated from a tank containing fish waste, which resulted in the lid being blown off. One employee sustained minor cuts and was taken to the emergency department for evaluation, according to a later update from the police.

The police have secured the scene and are currently investigating the cause of the explosion. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.

The emergency services confirmed that no individuals were seriously injured in the incident.
