RapiD Engineering, a Dutch technology firm, has introduced a new machine vision system designed to enhance quality control processes in the salmon and whitefish processing sectors.
The system, called RapiD Vision Quality Control, uses artificial intelligence (AI), 3D vision, and image analysis to detect product defects in real-time.
The company says the system works alongside existing machinery and provides full integration with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, allowing processors to trace product quality back to suppliers. Data analysis tools also enable more efficient purchasing decisions based on product quality.
The system’s features include species differentiation, volume determination, and optimized sequencing for robotic operations. According to Riekelt Post, CEO of RapiD Engineering, the new technology is expected to improve efficiency and quality in seafood processing.
