Norwegian aquaculture services company Eines has acquired the vessel Smøla Pioneer, formerly known as Hydro Pioneer, from Hydro Shipping/KB Gruppen.

The vessel was handed over on 15 June and will continue operating under an existing contract with salmon farmer Mowi, the company said.

Built in the United Kingdom in 1982, Smøla Pioneer has undergone several upgrades during its service life, most recently being converted into a delousing vessel for use in the aquaculture sector.

The 52-metre vessel is equipped with two FLS R600 units and Seaquest pumps, giving it a treatment capacity of between 500 and 600 tonnes of fish per hour.

Eines assumed responsibility for both the vessel and its crew on Monday. The company already operates several delousing vessels for Mowi and is due to take over operation of the wellboat Viktoria Lady from Frøy at the start of next year.

The transaction was coordinated by SSY Shipbrokers and financed by SpareBank 1 Nordmøre.
