Alf-Helge Aarskog was CEO of Mowi for almost 10 years before Ivan Vindheim took over in 2019.

Smir Group has announced the appointment of salmon industry veteran Alf-Helge Aarskog to its board of directors.

Aarskog, who brings extensive experience from the aquaculture industry, including previous roles as CEO of Lerøy Seafood Group and Mowi, is expected to contribute significantly to Smir Group’s strategic growth.

Frank Øren, owner and business developer at Smir Group, highlighted the importance of Aarskog’s industry expertise.

“We are very pleased that Alf-Helge Aarskog wants to contribute to the board of Smir Group. His knowledge of the important interaction between technology and biology will be important for our development,” he said.

As Smir Group continues to expand both geographically and operationally, Øren believes that Aarskog’s experience will help the board in supporting the company’s growth and facilitating its employees.

Aarskog, who holds various board positions in the industry and works part-time for NMBU and Eide Fjordbruk, expressed his enthusiasm for joining Smir Group.

“I have known Frank Øren since he was operations manager at Fjord Seafood,” he said. “Frank and the team have developed Smir Group in an exciting direction, where at the same time the company is moving into areas that are very interesting for the future development of the aquaculture industry. Here I hope that I can help contribute, while also learning more about fish farming.”

Smir Group, known for developing the Hydrolicer delousing system, has evolved into an aquaculture technology and service group, offering a broad range of systems and services related to delousing, waterborne feeding, and pen solutions.
