Therese Log Bergjord backs AI fish sorting firm Aquaticode.
Therese Log Bergjord, former CEO of Skretting and current board member of Kverva and Nordic Aqua Partners, has joined aquaculture technology company Aquaticode as Strategic Advisor.
Aquaticode specialises in AI-driven phenotyping—using computer vision and machine learning to assess and sort fish based on visible traits such as size, sex, deformities, and early signs of disease. The company says its non-invasive system allows hatcheries to group juvenile fish more effectively, improving welfare and long-term performance.
Bergjord’s appointment comes as the company scales up commercial adoption of its technology. Aquaticode recently announced agreements to scan more than 60 million fish using its SORTpro system.
“AI is finally delivering real value in aquaculture,” said Bergjord. “Aquaticode’s approach is precise, scalable, and grounded in biology. It’s not just smart tech—it’s good farming.”
CEO Stian Rognlid welcomed the appointment, saying: “Therese brings sharp strategic insight, a deep understanding of biology and business, and a global perspective. We’re proud to have her in our corner.”
He added: “That a respected and high-profile industry leader like Therese has chosen to engage with us is, in our view, a clear signal that this field is becoming a strategic priority for the future of aquaculture.”
Founded in Norway, Aquaticode has several large-scale deployments underway and says it is entering a new phase of commercial growth. The company’s AI systems aim to help producers move beyond traditional methods such as sorting by size.
“Sorting by size is like picking players based on height,” said Rognlid. “We help hatcheries pick based on potential instead.”
