Cumbria smokehouse goes part-time.
Owner of Grants Oak Smoked Jonathan Brown has told SalmonBusiness that the 35-year-old business is weathering the coronavirus by reducing operations.
Grants Oak is family run and supplied salmon to major businesses and retailers across the UK.
“We are going onto part-time,” said Brown.
“As we are predominately foodservice and Cruise line so we are sitting it out and using this time to our advantage and putting new equipment into our High care and streamline the layouts,” he added.
All major cruise lines are shuttering operations due to the coronavirus, with the Economist arguing if it could actually sink the industry for good.
The food service industry has also been ravaged by the virus, but many restaurants are now attempting to offer home delivery during the crisis.
