With this year’s record high salmon prices, the company should be on schedule.
Grieg Seafood produced 16,900 tonnes of salmon in the first quarter of the year. The production volumes were distributed with 9,600 tonnes in Rogaland, western Norway, 5,200 tonnes in Finnmark, northern Norway and 2,100 tonnes in British Columbia, Canada.
The figures were released in a trading update on Friday morning.
The average regional production cost per kilo in the quarter was approximately:
- Rogaland: 42 NOK (€4.4)
- Finnmark: 42 NOK (€4.4)
- British Columbia: 7.9 Canadian dollars (€5.8)
According to industry statistics provider Akvafakta, the average spot price for salmon (FCA Oslo) was NOK 79 (€8.3) in the first quarter of the year. The first salmon produced in April has achieved even higher prices – around NOK 100 (€10.5) on average.
