GroAqua: Crowding operations drive oxygen system uptake

Aquaculture supplier GroAqua and nanobubble technology company Moleaer have expanded deployments of oxygenation systems designed for salmon crowding operations.

The companies said the systems are now being used by producers in Europe and North America as farmers seek to maintain dissolved oxygen levels during high-density handling procedures such as grading, treatments, transfers and harvesting.

The solution combines GroAqua’s oxygenation equipment with Moleaer’s Freya nanobubble generator. According to the companies, producers using the technology during crowding operations have reported oxygen savings of up to 41% compared with conventional systems.

GroAqua and Moleaer will showcase the technology at Aquaculture UK in Glasgow this week.
