Hardingsmolt has ordered two additional closed-containment GreenBag units from Merdslippen to expand its post-smolt production capacity at its Koløy site in Fitjar.
Delivery is scheduled for autumn 2026. The new order will bring the total number of GreenBag units at the site to six.
Hardingsmolt has operated the system since 2019, with two units initially deployed, followed by two more in 2021. The company said more than 11 million post-smolt have been produced at the site over the past seven years, with low mortality and limited lice presence reported.
The expansion reflects continued investment in closed production systems, as producers seek to improve biological performance and reduce exposure to sea lice and environmental risk during the post-smolt phase.
Merdslippen said the repeat order indicates growing confidence in the technology after several years of operation. Hardingsmolt said the additional units will support increased production of larger, more robust smolt for transfer to sea sites.
