Havsbrún gains ASC feed certification as Bakkafrost advances sustainability strategy.
Faroese salmon farmer Bakkafrost’s feed subsidiary Havsbrún has been certified to the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Feed Standard, marking a significant step in the company’s plan to secure ASC certification across its entire salmon portfolio.
The ASC Feed Standard sets environmental and social requirements for feed production, including raw material sourcing, traceability and supply chain management. Bakkafrost described the certification as a key component of its integrated value chain strategy.
“This certification of Havsbrún is a major step towards our goal of having all our salmon ASC-certified,” said Bakkafrost CEO Regin Jacobsen. “It demonstrates the strength of our integrated value chain and our commitment to responsible aquaculture, from feed to fork.”
Havsbrún produces fishmeal, fish oil and salmon feed for Bakkafrost’s farming operations. The company said the certification supports its long-term sustainability ambitions and reinforces its position in ASC-certified markets.
