Ice Fish Farm confirms viral disease at two production sites. Two million fish at risk

Two sites are hit.

The fish disease ISA (infectious salmon anemia) has been confirmed at Ice Fish Farms’ farming operations at the Hamraborg site and Svarthamar site. The Hamraborg site consists of approximately 890,000 fish with an average weight of 2.137 kilograms. The Svarthamar site consists of approximately 1,100,000 fish with an average weight of 0.798 kilograms.

“The consequences of the disease are difficult to estimate now, but it will probably reduce expected harvest volumes for 2022 and 2023,” the Icelandic salmon farmer said in a statement.

“Finding the virus is considered to reduce the overall risk in the operations. Ice Fish Farm continues to analyse and will return with more information once it is available.”
